Families and students of CPEC,
Welcome! This is the home page of Mr. Jason Desjarlais, your vice-principal and grade 10 English Language Arts teacher. I have organized this website with five pages. The one you are reading now, as already mentioned, is the home page. Here you will find a very important button. It is the Google Classroom button and will take you directly to our ELA 10A Google Classroom page. What! We're still using Google Classroom, even though we're back in the building? Yes. That is correct. We will continue to use this amazing digital tool throughout the year. It will help us use less paper, which is always a good idea and it will help us acquire 21st century learning skills. Also, if you happen to miss a day or several days, the assignments will be up on Google Classroom and you will still be able to do them, even if you weren't at school. How awesome is that!
I have also included a blog on the second page. What is a blog? Great question! A blog focuses on mainly written content that allows the writer to connect directly with the readers. They often have comment sections where visitors can correspond and interact with the blogger. That's really it. Simple. I will use this blog to let you know about happenings in our class, post questions for you to respond to, share links for you to explore, and so on. Through this blog, we will hopefully create a healthy dialogue and learn from each other. As a matter of fact, I already posted a new blog and asked you some questions. Check it out!
The third page is a link to our ELA 10A class. On this page I included the course syllabus, how you will be graded, materials to bring to class, expectations and other important info, related to the class. Make sure you visit this page too.
The fourth page is exactly what it says. As the year goes on, I will post the new month's calendar to that page. When you click on the PDF, you will see all the happenings at CPEC school. I will also include the calendars on the Blog page, that way you will double your chances to know what is going on!
On the fifth page, I have included my contact information. If you need to get ahold of me, you can send me an email, call the high school, or call/text my cell phone. Contact me to let me know of any absents due to appointments, sickness, funerals, etc. Contact me to discuss assignments, grades and behaviour. Contact me if you have questions, concerns or congratulations. Communication between home and school is very important. I look forward to conversing with you throughout the year and making this a successful year for you and your student.
And finally, below the Google Classroom button, I included How to Scan Documents videos and instructions for when assignments need to be handed in digitally. There are videos and instructions for Android users and iPhone users. Choose the one that applies to you.
Well that about wraps it up here on the home page folks. Please check out the other pages on my website. Another important page to frequent is the From the High School Page, which can be found on the main page, under Administration.
I look forward to teaching your child and working closely with you. By working together, we will ensure that your child will have a happy, safe, successful and productive school year! Miigwetch.
